Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.
Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?
But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

I'm reading Cursed right now and can't wait to get back to it. So far it's rockin as Jennifer's books tend to do! Here are a couple of teasers to get you started.

-Collecting tardy slips had become sort of a hobby of mine. One day, I would have a pretty collage of pink paper with angry red writing. I'd hang it on the fridge for Oliva. She dug pink things.

-My gaze dropped from his face to his shirt. It read: I BELIEVE IN TROPHY WIVES. Nice.

-The girl inside me screamed and did a happy dance, but I quickly smacked her upside the head. I started backing off.

-“I know—I know how crazy it sounds, but it’s like I came to know
you. I knew you sketched when you were upset. I saw how much you
loved your sister. How brave you were to keep going to that damn
school. And all those times I watched you, I grew to know every one of
your fake smiles. I never even heard you laugh. All I’ve ever wanted to
do is help you, because maybe then, you’d smile once and really mean it."

Stacking The Shelves 1 (7/8/2012)

Stacking The Shelves is hosted weekly by Tynga's Reviews. Share all the books you've bought and borrowed every week.

This week was supposed to have been a wonderful week of fun, sun and relaxation. My husband was on a much needed vacation, and a friend was staying with us to celebrate her 18th birthday. Sadly, fun wasn't in store for us. Instead, four out of six of us caught a nasty bug and I'm still recovering. I guess every vacation can't be the greatest ever. I did get a few books though.
