Excerpt from For Everly by Raine Thomas

She folded her jeans and set them on the lounge chair. Taking one final deep breath, she pulled her top over her head, then set it neatly by her jeans.
Her gaze shifted to Cole, who was suddenly silent. She realized he was staring at her with a rather strange expression on his face. Had she somehow managed to shock the world-famous Cole Parker?
She didn’t speak, but walked over to the stairs. His eyes followed her every move. He had yet to meet her gaze. He was honed in on her body. Something about that was empowering.
Liberating.
Although she had no experience with playing the temptress, the situation felt right to give it a try. Dark, seductive lighting…clear, warm water…a hot, transfixed male. Yeah, she was pretty sure the circumstances were right. She just didn’t know if she had it in her.
She slowly descended the steps into the water. “So, Mr. Parker,” she said in a casual tone, “what shall we do in this magnificent pool of yours?”
“Um…”
He didn’t move as she walked from the shallow end to where he stood with the water lapping at his waist. She allowed her gaze to move over the hard muscles of his upper body as she approached. Even as she fully appreciated his fine physique with a woman’s eye, she felt pride for helping him maintain it.
“The water feels wonderful,” she said.
She walked to his side until the water reached her belly button, then came to a stop less than a foot from him. His gaze finally moved to hers. For the first time, she read stark desire in a male’s gaze. Her pulse raced.
What in the world was she doing? Temptress? Yeah, right.
“Everly,” he said.
His voice was low. Ragged. He closed the distance between them. Her nerves shimmied.
Oh, God. Was he going to kiss her? What should she do?
He paused. His eyes swept over her face. Whatever he read there had him backing up. Once again, she felt both relieved and disappointed.
Why was she so awkward with guys? With intimacy?
“You’re not nearly wet enough,” he said then.
Her mouth fell open. Then he grabbed her and leaped with her into the deep end. When they surfaced, she laughed and splashed him for dunking her. She realized the pool was filled with saltwater instead of chlorine as she pushed her hair out of her eyes.
“I’m totally getting you back for that,” she said, fighting a smile.
The chase was on. He was a strong swimmer, but she was lighter and sleeker. When he would have powered his way across the pool to evade her, she zipped along beneath the surface and paced him. After several minutes of pursuing him, she cornered him near the waterfall that spilled in from a spa off the far side of the pool. They were both breathless and laughing like idiots.
“I think grabbing my swimsuit to drag me back was playing dirty,” he said as he caught his breath.
“Sure it was. Serves you right.”
“Remind me not to dunk you again unless I want to skinny dip.”
She laughed again. His back was turned to her, the position in which she’d finally caught him. Only then did she register that her arms were still around his waist.
The feel of his body pressed against hers…his taut skin beneath her fingertips…it was—
“Tell you what,” he said, turning around to face her. She didn’t want to move her hands, and since he didn’t try to escape her touch, she didn’t. “That was too easy. I’ll find you with my eyes closed.”
“Oh, yeah? Marco Polo style?”
“Something like that. And when I do, I want a reward.”
She could only echo him as she held his intent gaze. “A reward?”
“Yes, Ms. Wallace. I want a real kiss.”

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
Last semester, Romy escaped from an abusive relationship with the guy she’d thought was the man of her dreams. This semester she’s putting herself back together, determined to reclaim her passion for art and for life. When she signs up for a painting class at the local art co-op, the possibility of passion becomes very real -- in the form of her teacher, Caleb. She sees the truth in his paintings -- a truth no one else has realized, until now.

Romy and Caleb might have a real shot together -- one that could heal them both. But when ghosts from their pasts re-emerge, determined to keep them apart, will they be strong enough to hold on to each other?

Excerpt From Romy's POV
The stairs creak and we look up to see a guy coming down the steps. He looks to be in his mid-twenties, maybe a few years older than I am, and he moves with the careless grace of an athlete.
“Holy hotness,” breathes Jude, mimicking my thoughts perfectly. It’s not that I’m on the prowl, but in this life, there are a few objective truths, and this guy’s attractiveness is one of them. His jeans hang from his lean hips and are stained with paint. A similarly decorated t-shirt clings to his frame, and there’s a smear of blue on his tanned, muscular forearm. He has chin-length, chocolate brown hair, but he’s pulled some of it away from his face in a partial ponytail high on the back of his head. And that gives us a perfect view of his wolf-gray eyes, which skate over us with mild interest as he descends the stairs and walks toward us.
“You guys here for my class?” he asks, nodding toward the classroom. Oh my God. He’s the teacher.
“Absolutely,” Jude says quickly, newly enthusiastic, and I can’t hold in my laugh.
“Head on in and grab an easel. We’ll start in a few minutes. I’m Caleb,” he says, holding his hand out to Jude, who shakes it and introduces himself.
Caleb turns his gaze to me and offers his hand. “Romy,” I say as I take it, my heart beating a little faster as my skin touches his.
He lets go first. “Have you painted before?” he asks softly, giving my toolbox a questioning glance.
“A little.” That’s a lie. I minored in art in college, and painting was my passion. Until last year. I was passionate about a lot of things until last year, actually.
He smiles, and it’s as warm as his skin and steals my breath. “You look nervous, Romy. You don’t have to be. This is supposed to be fun.”

My Thoughts

This Time Around is a sweet, romantic story about high school sweethearts going their separate ways and then finding their way back. For a new adult romance This Time Around is fairly tame in the bedroom and almost angst free.

After four years of college Nora and Jake find themselves thrown together again for their best friends wedding. It's obvious that both Nora and Jake still have feelings for each other and they quickly realize that they want nothing more than to be together again.

What I Liked About This Time Around
  • I wasn't depressed at the end of this book.
  • Jake's wedding toast was amazing and brought tears to my eyes!
  • Nora grows and learns to live for what she wants not what her parents want.
  • Nora respects her parents so much even when they aren't the best parents. I loved that even though she was hurt by them she knew they loved her and she didn't want to jeopardize their relationship.

My Thoughts
This book was just what I needed. A sweet romance where everything turns out just right and you get that wonderful, warm, gooey feeling when you finish. I really enjoyed reading Sam, Judd and Karrie's story. I loved how Sam came across as strong one minute and vulnerable the next, as a mom those feeling felt very real to me. Judd was a good guy and I really loved how he stepped up and was there for Sam and Karrie but also didn't just give up everything he wanted and had dreamed of for them.

I've read a few books by Bethany Lopez and I have definitely noticed that she likes her men to look bad and start off a little cocky, but then they end up having really big hearts. Now don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. I have been lucky in life and I have an amazing, big hearted man in my life. However.....I tend to like my book men to be a little more bad, a little bit or a lot more alpha and to come with a bit of drama. I think because Lopez's books tend to be a bit on the shorter side her men don't always get to develop as well as I would like.

Overall:
If you are looking for a feel good romance. Indelible is a good bet!

Cover Created by: Indie-Spired Book Covers

Tess used to spend more hours than she’d care to admit playing her favorite computer game, using the nickname Angel. But a girl needs more to keep her warm at night than pixels and she traded her virtual heaven for a real life hell. Now she’s on the run from a past she won’t talk about, and the only place she has to go is the doorstep of the friend she’s never actually met.

When Angel disappeared from their nightly games, it nearly destroyed Arion. He threw himself into work and women, but he can’t help knowing the one night stands will never compare to the angel who haunts his dreams. But the more Arion tries to keep Angel close, the more her fear drives her away. If they are ever going to have a chance for a future, they’ll first have to deal with the past that hasn’t forgotten her any more than she’s forgotten it, and Arion will have to learn how to let her go.
