Summary from Goodreads:
Marion, Virginia seemed like a nice place to live a normal life, but she is not a normal girl. Laney has special abilities that keep her looking over her shoulder as she makes her escape from the men who had kidnapped her. A young doctor's interest is piqued when he witnesses her mysteriously curing a young child's illness. He befriends her due to his growing fascination with uncovering the true nature of her abilities, but not without harboring secrets of his own. Laney's budding relationship with a local boy puts both of them in danger when the men she was hiding from find her. All of their lives will change forever as ancient secrets become unearthed.
Reading Laney's story was like being on a roller coaster.  One minute I was in happy, love land with her and the next I was on edge worried about who was after her.  I was suspicious of every new character she met and I just knew someone was going to pop out to get her at anytime.  When she strolls into town she immediately draws the attention of Austin a local boy in the small town of Marion and they quickly become involved.  Sometimes when a couple forms quickly in a book like this it really bothers me but for some reason Laney and Austin just felt right together from the first conversation.  I like that Laney wants to be strong and independent but still has vulnerabilities like a normal person.  This book goes from a sweet love story to an exciting and thrilling paranormal adventure with a lot of twists and turns.  I loved the originality of this paranormal young adult novel.  I am really looking forward to reading book 2.

Human Blend is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble
