Neurotic Thoughts - Carpe Corpus

Carpe Corpus (The Morganville Vampires Book 6)
Author: Rachel Caine
Release Date: June 2, 2009
Genre: YA Paranormal
Published by: Signet
Source: borrowed from my lovely friend Lauren
Summary from Goodreads
In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace-until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants-the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?

What can I say about these books that hasn't already been said? Rachel Caine is brilliant,  six books into a series and she can still throw in plot twists and turns that keep me guessing every single time! I know when I pick up one of these books that I can't have anything important to do because once I start I'm not going to stop until I'm done!

The characters are perfection every book. I love how Claire gets stronger and stronger, she has really learned how to hold her own. Mrynin, oh my gawd! that vamp, he keeps on surprising me! I loved the addition of Ada the computer type machine that took Mrynin 300 years to build. Of course I'm still loving Shane and Claire together. Towards the end I was freaking out thinking NO!!! you can't leave it here, you just can't!! I'll let you read for yourself to find out if she left it there or not. I'll be picking up book seven just as soon as I can clear a day to read uninterrupted.

If you haven't read The Morganiville Vampires then what are you waiting for? Pick it up you won't regret it!

Flash Reviews of The Morganville Vampires Book #2, 3, & 4

The Dead Girls Dance (The Morganville Vampires Book 2)
Author: Rachel Caine
Released: April 2007
Summary from Goodreads:

Claire has her share of challenges. Like being a genius in a school that favors beauty over brains; homicidal girls in her dorm, and finding out that her college town is overrun with the living dead. On the up side, she has a new boyfriend with a vampire-hunting dad. But when a local fraternity throws the Dead Girls' Dance, hell is really going to break loose.

Midnight Alley (The Morganville Vampires Book 3)
Released: October 2007
Summary from Goodreads:

A truce between the living and the dead isn't enough to keep Claire Danvers out of danger in this third entry in the Morganville Vampires series.

Feast of Fools (The Morganville Vampires 4)
Released: June 2008

Summary from Goodreads:

The wait is over. dig into the feast...

In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans live in relative peace. Student Claire Danvers has never been convinced, though —especially with the arrival of Mr. Bishop, an ancient, old-school vampire who cares nothing about harmony. What he wants from the town’'s living and its dead is unthinkably sinister. It’'s only at a formal ball, attended by vampires and their human dates, that Claire realizes the elaborately evil trap he'’s set for Morganville.

Lord of Misrule (The Morganville Vampires 5)
Released: January 2009

Summary from Goodreads:

In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, the master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn’t the only threat.

Violent black cyclone clouds hover, promising a storm of devastating proportions as student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against elements both natural and unnatural.

My Thoughts:
I decided to put these four books together because really I don't want to spoil anything for anyone that hasn't read this far into the series. Rachel Caine has created a world that just captivates me completely. She has made characters that have me loving them one minute, and hating them the next. The endings are usually major cliff hangers which I both loathe, and completely enjoy every time. Honestly, I really love this series so far and can't wait to be able to find out what will happen with Claire, Shane, Micheal, Eve, and my favorite and most hated at the very same time Mrynin. If you have been undecided on whether or not to pick up this series, I urge you to grab it, curl up and start it. You won't want to stop with just one.
